I did a scan of my computer with both AVG and Malwarebytes and they both said that rundll32.exe, located in both the System32 and SysWOW64 folders, is a trojan. Now I've read that rundll32.exe is actually crucial to the operating system, but then why is it considered a trojan by both of these scanners? Also, my suspicions of malware were confirmed when I looked on Task Manager and saw there were about 6 different rundll32.exe processes running, located in both System32 and in SysWOW64. What should I do? Should I delete both of the rundll32.exes from my computer, and what will happen if I do? more

Open Question: windows vista desktop wont shutdown, just restarts.?

my computer will not shut down unless I pull the plug. when I choose shutdown it shuts off and restarts as if I chose the reboot option. System restore wont create a restore point neither when try to update my pc with windows update so it wont install and updates. ive checked the power button and its not stuck, ive tried everything I can as far as virus and malware scanners. im intermediate when it comes to computers so I know most of the basic stuff to try and have been searching online without success, I just keep getting told to update my windows online. I use my dell Inspiron laptop with windows 7 home premium 64-bit for mainly school. As far as surfing the web goes, I only use Facebook, YouTube and Wikipedia. I open emails only when I know who sent them and why. I also have a security software called Trend Micro titanium internet security software. The thing is, my laptop crashed about a month ago and we have been working to figure out what happened. Best buy said they thought it was a virus and they could fix it easily and save all of my data. They tried everything and then said my data was lost and the virus was so bad, they would just wipe the computer and reinstall the software. That didn't work either. They thought it was hardware failure or something. They said, I guess a week later, that they had located 72 different viruses and only could fix 50 or so. How did it get this bad with the trend software? I play CD type games on my laptop and I play minecraft. Could any of that have gotten through my security software? more

Yesterday i was logged in into my facebook when suddenly i was automatically logged off for this reason.. Resolved Question: External HDD - ~$WFF.FAT & shortcut problem?

It's been about 2 weeks since in the root of my external HDD only a shortcut appeared in the root, then once I opened that shortcut, the contents of my HDD appeared in a new Explorer window. I tried scanning it, and my system with Malwarebytes, many times, Advanced System Care, I've tried deleting the autorun.ini file as I've researched the internet for a solution. It can't be deleted, nor by command prompt nor by ASC File Shredder, because it says it's in use. And I don't know how can it be in use. I've closed Explorer and it says the same. So far, my HDD has been useable. But beginning from today, this appeared when I wanted to open the shortcut: There was a problem starting ~$WFF.FAT The specified module could not be found. It lets me go to the root of my ext HDD, where an autorun.ini file is and the shortcut of my external HDD, but it doesn't let me open up the shortcut. If this is of any help, here's the shortcut's path: C:\Windows\system32\rundll32.exe ~$WFF.FAT,crys desktop.ini.ini icvtnhbj yrpjdxfb " " I don't think this should be the path. There shouldn't be any shortcut in the first place! I'm running Windows 7 64 bit on an Asus K52JT. I've got 600gb of my life on that HDD... HELP!!! more

This is REALLY annoying. I cant play any game without it popping up and then closing. It does it when I am doing anything. recently , on my toshiba windows 7 laptop that ive had since july last year, and my older windows xp custom built desktop ive had since 2006 - ive been hit with a lot of viruses on both ? avast proved ineffective, i ran the eset online scanner on both, and the scanner found 21 viruses on my laptop with the laptop external harddrive plugged in. and the scanner also found about 19 viruses on my xp desktop. i chose delete viruses on the online scanner, it deleted them on both...i then downloaded the online scanner on both computers again.......the scanner found more viruses, and i clicked delete......eset deleted the found viruses. i uninstalled avast, i downloaded avg free trial security on both computers, i ran it on both computers it found futher viruses on both computers, i chose to delete the viruses...avg sait had cleaned the computers. i ran both the online scanner by eset and avg full virus scan another time on both computers....and the scans found nothing ? no viruses on both computers ? so finally can i assume all viruses have been cleaned off my laptop and xp desktop ? more

Okay so i was surfing the web and i ended up downloading a virus on my account. My account is the only administrator account on the computer and i've been meaning to delete all the garbage i have on it to clean up my computer a bit, but everytime i log onto it the screen turns white and i have to restart my computer. 1) I wanted to download a hd video (720p) from youtube but the firefox addon i use only downloads it in 280p. Normally i use keepvid.com and i checked on www.mywot.com; it has a pretty decent score. I was on the internet this morning, doing my usual searching, when I went to Google Images, and clicked on an image and went to the site by clicking "view original image", does that take you to the actual site? It had that dark colored background like images do if you are just viewing them on Firefox, then I scanned the link via "VirusTotal" and found out ParetoLogic marked the site as Malware! To be safe, I ran a Full Scan with Avast!, nothing was found then I ran an Avast! Boot Scan and nothing was found, however, I defragmented my computer after it started up and a while later, I ran a scan of 'C' Drive and it came up with scan results: Some Files Could Not Be Scanned which were in my Spybot folder, deep inside them, they are Quarantined files from Facebook Messenger, these quarantined files were quarantined in October last year and this is the first time Avast! Ever noticed them! Please help... worried! more

So i am asking this question on my laptop as my normal computer has been infected by what i now know to be called a "Trojan" virus.
