Just for home use, which includes e-mails, web surfing, and some downloading. I actually have mcAfee pre-installed but there's this notification that keeps popping up about updating (to buy full version naturally). I need something that 1. wouldn't be too heavy for the hard disk because before I used to have AVG (old pc, i.e. windows xp) and it slows down the performance, and 2. free! I'm not really good at techie stuff and I did google and do some research before going here, mind you. The PC mag suggest Ad Aware as one of the best free anti-virus so far. I always thought that cookies on a computer was all bad. I just used HLP Free PC Cleaner to delete all cookies. And now I've been noticing a few annoying things on my computer that's different. First, it seems like I keep having to sign in to most websites and my e-mails more often. Was it bad to delete all cookies? I also deleted all temporary internet files. This particular process took HOURS. I couldn't believe all the things that was in the recycle bin afterwards. There was even thumbnails of people's display pictures from various websites (even from Yahoo Answers) and TONS of random things from websites that I visited in the recycle bin. WHY? I never saved those display pictures. There was even photos that I viewed in the past but never saved. Why is that? Why was all of that information on my computer? There was over 28,000 things in the recycle bin that I deleted. I thought that deleting all of these things would speed up my PC, but it's the same as ever.Most of the time it's just tracking cookies that are deleted (and that's when I use Norton Security to do a scan). But this HLP Free PC Cleaner deleted ALL cookies.People keep suggesting ccleaner, but every timeI try that, it either doesn't work or I can't figure it out. I forget, but I know it gives me some sort of problem every time I try it. I noticed for the past 2 days when I'm typing a word, there is like a pause before it appears. Then, I also notice that the scroll bar is slow when after I try to move it up or down, like I too have to wait for it to move? I've never ever had this problem before. The only place I don't have any problems is when I'm typing an e-mail from Windows Live Mail. It all types out smooth as I type along. Ok, so for a brief overview, every user account on my home computer has internet access but mine. I have Windows 7 (64 bit), my computer is a gateway, and I use Internet Explorer. If anyone needs any more information about this sort of stuff, just let me know and I'll do my best to provide it. This problem started after my anti-virus software (ZoneAlarm) caught two virus. It got rid of them like it always does; however, after that the internet wasn't working on my profile. By what I remember, before I ran the scan and got rid of the viruses, the internet wasn't working for anyone's account. Then after the scan, everything was working fine again but the internet on my account still wasn't working. This was about two weeks ago, so I don't remember all the details. So, onto the exact problem. Whenever I click internet explorer down in the task bar either nothing comes up at all, OR a blank window will open after about 30 seconds of waiting, and then close on it's own after about 10 seconds. I should mention that according to the little icon in the bottom right-hand corner, I have internet access; and I can access my e-mail through windows live and read, send, and receive mail, I just can't click any of the links in the e-mails. I've tried opening the internet with no add-ons, I've tried going to the control panel and making internet explorer my default program for everything internet related or whatever, I've tried running CCleaner--none of it has made a difference. My friend who is a software engineer told me the following things: (i) Sends all the websites you visit to (ui.ff.avast.com) (ii) Sends all of the post data that you make to localhost:27275 (/command) which then connects to avasts server and sends it to them. Now at first I didn't believe him, but I used a plugin for firefox that let me view all HTTP headers and it turns out he was right Why would avast need this information to be sent to their server? I can understand the first case, where they would want to make sure to see if a URL is safe, but why would they need all the data we post to their server? The data that is posted to servers includes usernames, passwords, credit cards, addresses, and loads of other personal information. Does avast sell this information for money? Is that how they can afford to keep their antivirus free? more

I am trying to attach a picture that is less than 25MB. I have gone through all of YAHOO!'s trouble shooting i.e. browser...e-mail...anti-virus.
